“Recently, the majority of my summers have been spent abroad which is why I am thrilled for the opportunity to celebrate the 4th of July this year! It is a special day whose red, white, blue, striped, star themed decorations all over the city make me embrace embrace my American identity and appreciate the positive moments of our history. What makes this holiday a memorable and meaningful one is being reunited with my large family to celebrate. Our tradition begins with hosting a barbeque and stuffing ourselves with delicious carne asada, hot dogs, burgers and desserts and after burning off the calories running around with our little cousins, we end the night watching dazzling firework shows put on by the kids on our block. – Bianca Vallejo
“To me the Fourth of July means freedom and independence! And of course lots of BBQ!” – Larisha Hartfield
